Most people stay under the impression that a study permit is only for young adults who wish to study in Canada as an international student. But this is untrue.
Just like any young adult a minor student aged 4-17 can apply for a study permit given, they fall under the eligibility criteria. A minor child is someone who is unable to live and study independently. Such children require financial and emotional support of an adult. Different Canadian provinces have different criteria to declare one’s adulthood.

Not every minor child arriving in Canada is eligible to apply for a study permit. They must fall under any one of the two conditions to apply, which are:
They have a Canadian Citizen/Permanent Resident as a relative willing to become their legal custodian The minor travelling is being accompanied by their parents/legal guardian

After ensuring that the minor does fulfill any one of the two conditions mentioned above, they still need to take care of certain things. One being, they must know the requirements that are to be fulfilled before entering Canada/if they are already in Canada.
